Fabrizio Cuccoli
Head of Research Area
Fabrizio Cuccoli received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in electronic engineering in 1996 from the University of Florence and the Ph.D. in “Methods and technologies for environmental monitoring” in 2001 from the University of Basilicata, Italy. Since 2000 he has been with the Interuniversity National Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT) c/o the Department of Information Engineering, University of Florence. Since 2012 he has been with the Radar and Surveillance Systems (RaSS) Lab. of CNIT. From 2009 to 2017 he was Head of Research. Since 2018 he has been Head of Area research. His main research activity is in atmospheric remote sensing (i.e., rainfall, water vapor, atmospheric gaseous components, atmospheric targets) through active systems (i.e. radar, laser). He participated in research projects funded by public bodies (ie. European and Italian Space Agencies, Europen Union, National and Regional Italian governments) and private companies (i.e. Leonardo, Telespazio, NXP, TopCon, Terna) both as project manager and/or scientific coordinator and researcher. He was external referee for the evaluation of Joint Research Projects (JRP) proposals and Researcher Excellence Grant (REG) applications in the Environment area of the EU EMRP Call 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2019 Metrology for Energy and Environment. He was external referee for the evaluation of research proposals for the National Research Council of the Romanian Government. He is authors of more than 150 publications among papers and conference proceedings (IEEE, IEE, MDPI, Springer).
